Anna Wintour’s - Editor for Vogue. Celebrating its 120th anniversary. Tale behind the cover of the November 1988 issue – the first published under her editorship – featuring Israeli model Michaela Bercu – which shocked many because Bercu was wearing denim jeans. “Michaela was wearing an haute couture Christian Lacroix jacket with a beaded cross, all very Like a Prayer, and stonewashed Guess jeans… The jacket was actually part of a suit, but the skirt didn’t fit Michaela; she had been on vacation back home in Israel and had gained a little weight. Not that that mattered. In fact, it only served to reinforce the idea to take couture’s haughty grandeur and playfully throw it headlong into real life and see what happened.”

Icon: Helen Gurley Brown February 18, 1922 – August 13, 2012 “This week saw the death of legendary Helen Gurley Brown, who passed away aged 90. Cosmopolitan’s editor from 1965 until 1997, she reinvented the magazine into the first sexually driven publication of its kind.” I may not be the most diligent cosmo reader ,but this is a loss of an icon that empowered woman. Also to remember her as a style icon. As seen here.
